The main entrances to the park are off Drove Road, York Road, Groundwell Road, and at the bottom of Durham Street.
The park is open every weekday from 7.30am, and on weekends and Bank Holidays from 9.00am. Closing times vary depending on the time of year.
There is no designated car parking for the park, so it is recommended to use public transport or public car parking facilities available in the town centre.
Visitors can expect a beautiful natural place with plenty of wildlife, benches for relaxation, and a picnic area. The park is well-maintained and offers a peaceful environment for visitors to enjoy.
The park was designed to reflect the modern informality of the 1960's, rather than the Victorian splendour and formality of Town Gardens. It offers a unique and relaxing atmosphere for visitors to unwind and take a leisurely walk.
