The location of the stunning new outdoor space is just off Littleton Road, at the site of the old Manchester Racecourse.
The Wetlands is a fabulous new home for birds, wildlife, and nature. The views include the skyline of Manchester, the woodlands of Kersal Dale, and the shimmering River Irwell. There are cycle paths, wonderful dog walks, and ten hectares of wildflower habitat to explore.
Visitors can enjoy activities such as running, cycling, walking, and exploring the outdoors at the Wetlands. The site is open and exposed on all sides, with some paths accessible for pushchairs and wheelchairs.
Visitors can help protect the wildlife and plants at the Wetlands by keeping to designated footpaths around the wetlands section and keeping dogs under control in the wetlands area. It is important to respect the site, especially during the bird nesting season from mid March to June.
Parking is available off Littleton Road and off Cromwell Road A576 by Cromwell Bridge. Pedestrian access from Littleton Road continues straight ahead following the route of the river with the new housing estate to the right along Grandstand Avenue.
