2018 marks the centenary of the 1918 Armistice that ended the First World War. As part of the commemorations, the museum wishes to honor the service of the police officers in the Greater Manchester area.
Today marks the Representation of the People Act, which granted women over the age of 30 the right to vote.
We are open Tuesdays (last admission 3.00pm) and there is no need to book in advance.
We are sorry, but the museum will be closed on Tuesday, April 16th.

The Museum was founded in 1981 and funded by Greater Manchester Police. It collects and preserves archive material and objects relating to the history of policing in the Greater Manchester area, and acts as an important resource for community engagement.
If you would like to book a private tour for between 5-25 people, we offer these on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. Tours last between one and a half to two hours and are suitable for anyone aged over 6.
Use of the archive is by appointment only on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays (during term-time) and Fridays. Enquiries must be made by completing the relevant enquiry form and emailing or posting it to us.
Excellent FREE museum full of Police history and great people to chat to. Fantastic little museum. Definitely worth a visit as it's free entry. Very educated guides full of knowledge. Brilliant, nostalgic visit, well worth a visit 😀 and excellent staff running it who are very helpful and knowledgeable. Interesting little place, the volunteers really made the visit memorable.
