Hospital and Outreach Education provides personalized learning and support for children and young people aged 4 to 18 who cannot attend mainstream school due to complex medical and/or mental health conditions. The institution helps these students make rapid progress in their learning and emotional well-being, with the goal of successfully transitioning them back to their home school or the next phase in their education.
Referrals to Hospital and Outreach Education are made by the child's school and supported by a medical practitioner. Parents cannot directly apply for their child to attend the institution, ensuring that the referral process is based on professional assessment and support.
The mission of Hospital and Outreach Education is to improve outcomes for children and young people who are too unwell to access education in their usual school. The institution provides additional support in a hospital setting or alternative provision, with the goal of reintegrating students to their usual setting or other long-term provision where they will be included with necessary adjustments.
Hospital and Outreach Education believes in influencing the future of its students by restoring their self-confidence and self-esteem, and providing them with the resilience and tools to cope in their chosen educational or vocational destination. The institution firmly believes that all students can achieve regardless of their personal circumstances or medical/mental health conditions.
Hospital and Outreach Education staff have recently won three awards in the 2022 Northamptonshire Education Awards, including the NASEN 2022 Award for Technology for the Av1 project. The institution's dedication and hard work have been recognized by the community and educational organizations, showcasing the positive impact they have on children and young people.
