Regent Street Christmas Lights

With over 300 LED bulbs, Regent Street is London's brightest street! It is also in this large shopping avenue where the first Christmas decorations in London are lit up.

Each year, the Christmas decorations on Regent Street change their theme. In 2014, the street put the spotlight on the film Night at the Museum: The Secret of the Pharaohs, in 2015, it was clock movements that decorated this street.

As in 2017, the Regent Street illuminations will be themed “Spirit of Christmas” to pay homage to the first Christmas lights installed in 1954.

The inauguration will take place on Thursday, November 14, 2019 from 17 p.m. to 21 p.m. and a show will be held in the street from 17 p.m. to 30 p.m.

The original Carnaby Street Christmas lights

This spruce tree decorated with 500 lights will be illuminated on December 5, 2019 at 18 p.m. in the presence of the Mayor of London and the Ambassador of Norway.

The Illuminated Shard

Every evening from December 2, 2019, the top 20 floors of the shard will be illuminated for the biggest light show in Western Europe.

The light show will consist of three nine-minute sequences every half hour from 16 p.m. to 1 a.m. and will reflect the designs created by the schoolchildren.

On New Years Eve, there will be a unique display from the midnight alarm clock to the early hours of New Years, before the show ends.

Conclusion

Paris had better watch out because the English are very good at decorating London for the Christmas holidays !!

The illuminations not to be missed in London are undoubtedly those of Oxford Street, Regent Street and Covent Garden. Those of Carnaby Street are my favorite because they are very original every year and are located in a pretty pedestrian street in Soho.
