The pub won the local CAMRA branches Best Community Pub Award in 2012.
The pub has a traditional atmosphere, tastefully refurbished in 2012 while still keeping its cozy and welcoming feel.
The pub often plays classic pop and rock & roll songs from the 50s and 60s on the music system, sometimes leading to spontaneous community singalongs or dancing.
The sloping floor in the pub leads to the tiny rear lounge where the Merseyside Branch of CAMRA was founded in 1974. There is even a plaque on the wall to mark this momentous occasion. The sloping floor has been known to fool unwary drinkers who may have slightly overindulged.
The pub is open from 11:00 to 23:00 on Monday to Saturday, and from 12:00 to 22:30 on Sundays. It is very handy for all public transport and attracts people from all over the city and visitors as well.
