High Woods Country Park provides habitats for thousands of different birds and mammals, including woodland, a lake, wildflower meadows, marshes, hayfields, scrubland, and open spaces.
High Woods Country Park lies between Turner Road and Ipswich Road beyond North Station in Colchester.
Visitors can enjoy fishing, guided walks, environmental education sessions, forest schools, and various hiring fees and charges. There are also opportunities to volunteer with the Countryside Team as a Volunteer Ranger.
Led by fully trained volunteer walk leaders, walks take place every other Friday and Sunday, starting from the Visitor Centre. The park provides a variety of habitats for study including woodland, grassland, pasture, scrub, and wetland.
Visitors can download maps, visitor and events leaflets, find out opening times for the Visitor Centre and car parks, and enjoy a picnic in the designated picnic areas. The park is also a great place to exercise dogs and offers plenty of parking and open spaces for families to enjoy.
